The Congregation at Prayer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than an instruction manual, Luther’s Small Catechism<\/a> is a prayer book. In a simple way, it lays out the main teachings of Scripture. The more we hear Scripture rightly confessed, the more we rightly repeat His words and promises back to Him in prayer. By it, faith, knowledge, and prayer are deepened in God’s Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Small Catechism is to be memorized. Knowledge matters. The right vocabulary matters. Children and adults may not fully comprehend why an article of faith is articulated in such a precise way, but as they learn the words, they learn what it means. Little by little they grow in their vocabulary, articulation, and understanding. We desire to give all Christians something to grow into not out of. The Small Catechism is simple enough for the youngest and deep enough for the most mature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
